Tantalum Targets

The need to protect the resistor layer used for heating the ink from being attacked directly by the hot corrosive ink. What is needed is a material capable of withstanding and protecting corrosion-prone materials from cyclic exposure to hot corrosive ink.

Material Requirements:
Tantalum has been shown to have excellent resistance to corrosion from the heated ink materials. Tantalum targets are used as a passive protective layer to the resistor. Tantalum is deposited using PVD process. High purity tantalum film with low Rs uniformity is needed.
